Refresh your appearance-so you look like yourself, only more rested and confident.
Getting Started: What Are Neurotoxins and Fillers?
- Neurotoxins (like Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, Jeuveau®) relax facial muscles to soften lines caused by movement—think frown lines and crow’s feet.
- Dermal Fillers restore lost volume, smooth wrinkles, and enhance features. They’re gel-like substances (mostly hyaluronic acid) used for lips, cheeks, jawline, and more.
Neurotoxin Treatments (Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, Jeuveau®)
When should I start neurotoxin treatments?
It’s best to start when you first notice faint lines that stay even when your face is relaxed. Early treatment can help prevent deeper wrinkles.
Are neurotoxins preventative?
Yes! Starting early can keep lines from getting more pronounced over time.
How soon will I see results?
Effects start in 3–7 days, with full results at 2 weeks.
How long do results last?
Results usually last 3–4 months. Some factors—like strong facial muscles or a fast metabolism—might mean you need higher doses or more frequent touch-ups. While some believe intense exercise or high metabolism may shorten duration, current studies are inconclusive.
Can I develop resistance to neurotoxins?
True resistance (antibody formation) is rare. To minimize risk, space treatments every 3–4 months.
Which neurotoxin is right for me?
- Botox®: The original, most widely used.
- Dysport®: Softer spread, faster onset, often for larger areas.
- Jeuveau®: “Newtox”—similar to Botox®, popular for frown lines.
- Xeomin®: Contains only the active ingredient (“naked” toxin), a simpler formula.
What should I avoid after neurotoxin treatment?
For the first 24 hours, avoid:
- Yoga or exercises with your head down
- Saunas
- Facials or massages
- Tight hats or scarves around treated areas
This helps ensure the best results.
Can I exercise after treatment?
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours to minimize swelling and bruising. Whether exercise shortens the effect is still unclear.
Dermal Fillers
What are fillers made of?
Most fillers are hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in your skin.
Will filler make me look “done” or unnatural?
Not unless you want that look! With skilled placement, results are natural and balanced—restoring volume where it’s been lost, especially on the outer face.
Can filler migrate?
Migration is rare, but can happen with overfilling, incorrect placement, or muscle movement. It’s more about injector technique than what you do afterward, but we still recommend avoiding pressure on the area right after treatment.
What areas can be treated, and at what age?
Typical areas & ages:
- Lips: 20s–40s
- Cheeks: 30s–50s
- Chin/jawline: 30s–60s
- Smile lines: 30s–60s
But really, anyone can benefit depending on their needs!
What if I get cold sores?
Let us know if you have a history of cold sores. Preventive medication may be recommended before mouth-area treatments to reduce risk of outbreak.
Will it hurt?
A topical numbing cream is used, and most fillers contain lidocaine for comfort. Gentle techniques keep discomfort to a minimum.
How soon will I see results?
Filler results are immediate, but swelling may take a few days to resolve.
Is there downtime?
Most people return to daily activities right away. Mild swelling or bruising is possible, especially with fillers.
Are fillers safe?
Yes! All products used are FDA-approved and safe when administered by trained professionals.[^6]
What are the side effects?
Most commonly: mild swelling, redness, or bruising, which resolve quickly. Rare risks will be discussed at your consultation.
Sculptra®
What’s Sculptra, and how is it different from filler?
- Filler: Hyaluronic acid-based, gel-like, immediate results, dissolvable if needed. Great for lips, tear troughs, and shaping.
- Sculptra: Stimulates your own collagen, results develop gradually over months, and last longer. Especially good for restoring volume in the outer face. Not dissolvable, but integrates naturally for subtle, long-term improvements.
How many rounds of Sculptra will I need?
It depends on your needs and degree of volume loss.
- General rule: one vial per decade of life, over two sessions.
- Most people see good results with 2–4 vials over two sessions.
- For prevention, 2 vials may be enough.
- Results are gradual; maintenance may be needed every 1–3 years.
